About the Band
Virgo is a highly experienced 5 piece Party Band active in clubs, pubs, hotels and events in Surrey, South London, Sussex, Kent and Hampshire.
With a repertoire of over 200 popular numbers from the 50s to the present day, this female vocal lead 4 part harmony band is versatile and adaptable to almost any event, from weddings, birthdays and anniversaries, to dinner dances and corporate functions.
Established over 35 years ago, Virgo has built a reputation for professionalism and reliability and has never yet failed to honour a booking. You can rely on outstanding musical entertainment to ensure your special day has a great impact on your invited guests.

David Frost
Drums
I am a lifetime drummer who has played all styles short of thrash metal; favouring funk, soul and rock but also at home with Latin and swing.
I’m currently a full time tutor and player and loving drums more now than ever.
Chris Rees
Bass guitar / Vocals
I have been playing bass and singing in bands since I was fourteen years old. Styles have included Rock, Metal, Blues, Rhythm & Blues, Punk, C&W, Americana, Bluegrass and Hardcore Folk. While playing in bands I have also undertaken studio and live sessions, both for vocals and bass.
I joined Virgo on a part-time basis in 2012 then became a permanent full-time member in 2015. I’m still occasionally called upon to sing, and play acoustic bass and upright bass, with the folkier end of the music spectrum.
Neil Pepper
Guitar / Vocals
I joined Virgo in 1982 when I was 16. This was quite a step up for me as Virgo had won the “Pub Entertainers of the Year” award on a few occasions and appeared on radio and TV, so I had a lot to live up to and I’m still trying! Well, that’s what the other guys in the band say.
My weapons of choice are a Roland G808 guitar/synth controller played through a Line 6 amp, two Guild acoustics, Line 6 electric acoustic, 5 string banjo, mandolin and guitarlele.
Chris Evans
Keyboards / Vocals
I joined Virgo in 2018, a relatively new member, having performed with several other bands beforehand.
I come from a musical background. My great grandfather was a professional opera singer, my grandmother a classical pianist and both parents regularly performed in local musical theatre productions. I also enjoy performing in musical theatre, first appearing on stage at the tender age of 5. More recently I have diversified to the role of Musical Director which involves waving my stick around in the Orchestra Pit. You could say that music has always been a major part of my life!
I enjoy listening to and playing a wide range of musical genres from classical to heavy metal and have had a real blast rehearsing and playing with this amazingly talented band of musicians
Lianne Downes
Lead Vocals
I am the newest member of Virgo, having joined in 2019. Though I’ve sung live for many years prior to joining the band, it was most frequently performing in contemporary and classic musicals.
I love the eclectic mix of music Virgo perform, and really enjoy being so close to the amazing atmosphere that live music creates! Despite being so new to the band, I have already learnt a lot from working with musicians with many (many) more years of experience than me
